Our board butter brings together food-grade mineral oil and pure Welsh beeswax in equal measure. The oil nourishes the wood, whilst the beeswax forms a protective seal that resists moisture and prevents warping. The result is a finish that feels smooth underhand and catches the light softly—timber cared for as it should be.

This is the treatment we reach for when a board needs restoring or when the surface begins to look tired. The wax content means it sits longer on the wood, penetrating slowly and evenly. It's particularly suited to end-grain boards or those exposed to heavier use, where both protection and presentation matter. The butter solidifies at room temperature, making it easy to apply in controlled amounts.

To use: warm a small quantity between your palms until softened, then massage into the board using circular motions. Work thoroughly into end grain and edges. Leave for at least an hour—ideally overnight—then polish with a clean cloth. The surface should feel silken, not sticky. Use monthly, or whenever the board appears dull or dry.
