Our mineral oil is formulated for the care of working wooden surfaces. Food-safe and free from additives, it penetrates deeply into the grain, conditioning the timber from within whilst preventing moisture damage and surface cracking. Applied regularly, it maintains the suppleness of the wood and brings forward the natural character of Welsh oak, walnut, or ash.

The oil we've chosen is refined to pharmaceutical grade—colourless, odourless, and stable. It doesn't oxidise or turn rancid, making it suited to surfaces in frequent contact with food. Each application replenishes the wood's protective layer, guarding against staining and wear whilst allowing the board to breathe.

To use: ensure the board is clean and dry. Apply a generous amount with a soft cloth, working along the grain. Allow the oil to absorb for several hours or overnight, then buff away any excess. For new or heavily used boards, repeat weekly for the first month, then monthly thereafter. Eirlys boards are made to endure, and this oil ensures they age with grace rather than neglect.
